North York Moors holiday planning

Park boundary status unconfirmed

A longer holiday needs more than a collection of day trips. I have kept these three-, five- and seven-day suggestions to a few overnight bases, with named parking for drivers and current operator links for rail and bus travel. Opening days and seasonal services still decide what fits.

Choose the base before the outings

The holiday-base comparison addresses where to stay for several nights. The existing village comparison helps choose villages to visit, while the weekend itinerary remains a separate shorter visit.

Travel that changes with the season

Car-free plans use Northern, Coastliner and Arriva, with East Yorkshire 28 for a western extension. NYMR and Moorsbus are optional only on confirmed operating dates. Winter alternatives never assume a heritage railway return or an unconfirmed 2027 Moorsbus service.

Where to stay in the North York Moors

Self-catering cottages, village inns and farmhouse boltholes right across the moors, from the southern villages to the coast.
